Safety and lifespan of NH3 hoses:
Anhydrous ammonia (NH3) hoses have a limited-service life, and handling them past their expiration date can be extremely dangerous. The rubber compounds used in the hose degrade over time, even with proper storage.
- 7-year removal from service: Parker anhydrous ammonia hose must be removed from service within 7 years of its production date.
- Manufacturer date included: Parker hose assemblies often include both the date of manufacture and a "replace by" date printed on the hose.
- Regular inspection is crucial: Always perform a visual inspection of the hose for wear, gouges, or soft spots. If any damage is found, you should remove it from service immediately.
