A Guide to the Different Types of Greenleaf TADF Spray Tips

Apr 24th 2023

Did you know that using the right spray tips can significantly improve the effectiveness of your agricultural spraying applications? The Greenleaf TADF spray tips offer a revolutionary design that helps farmers achieve better coverage, penetration, and drift control. Overall it can lead to healthier crops and higher yields.

In this article, we’ll explore the features and benefits of Greenleaf TADF spray tips, as well as tips for choosing the right spray tip for your needs.

Understanding the TurboDrop Asymmetrical DualFan Design

Greenleaf TADF nozzles have a special design called the TurboDrop Asymmetrical DualFan. This design is unique because it can spray a target two to four times in just one pass.

Imagine painting a wall with a spray can: with a regular spray nozzle, you would need to move the can up and down several times to cover the entire surface. But with the TurboDrop Asymmetrical DualFan, you can cover more of the wall in one go.

The TurboDrop Asymmetrical DualFan design has two spray patterns. The 10-degree forward spray pattern creates slightly smaller droplets than the 50-degree rearward spray pattern.

When you set up the Greenleaf TADF tips in the standard way on the spray boom, the forward spray covers the front side of the target. The rearward spray covers the back side. This is very useful for making sure the spray reaches all parts of the target.

To get even better coverage, you can mount every other nozzle "backwards" on the boom. This means that some nozzles face one way, and others face the opposite way. By doing this, you create four distinct spray patterns on the target.

The two outer patterns have larger droplets. While the two inner patterns have smaller droplets. The larger droplets on the outside help protect the smaller droplets in the middle from being blown away by the wind.

By spraying in different directions, the TurboDrop DualFan creates a unique balance. It provides:

  • Good coverage
  • Penetration
  • Drift control

These are all important factors when using spray nozzles in agriculture.

Spray Nozzle Pressure and Droplet Size

The Greenleaf TADF nozzles are very versatile because they can work with different pressures and create different droplet sizes. The pressure of the spray nozzle affects how big the droplets are when they come out of the nozzle. This is important because different droplet sizes work better for different types of spray applications.

For most sizes of Greenleaf TADF tips, the droplet spectrum is Medium-Coarse below 80 psi and Medium-Fine above 80 psi. This means that when the pressure is below 80 psi, the spray nozzle creates medium-sized to large droplets. When the pressure is above 80 psi, the spray nozzle creates medium-sized to small droplets.

Being able to change the pressure and droplet size is very useful. For example, you can use the Greenleaf TADF nozzles for drift-sensitive applications at 30-60+ psi.

Drift-sensitive applications are when it's important to make sure the spray doesn't drift too far away from the target. In these cases, using larger droplets can be helpful because they are less likely to be carried away by the wind.

On the other hand, you can use the Greenleaf TADF nozzles for coverage-critical applications at 60-120 psi. Coverage-critical applications are when it's important to make sure the spray covers as much of the target as possible. In these cases, using smaller droplets can be helpful because they can reach more parts of the target.

Setting Up Greenleaf TADF Spray Tips on the Spray Boom

When using Greenleaf TADF spray tips, it is important to set them up correctly on the spray boom. The standard orientation involves placing the spray tips on the boom so that the forward spray covers the front side of the target, and the rearward spray covers the back side. This setup allows the spray to reach all parts of the target efficiently.

However, you can also use an alternative "backwards" mounting technique for even better coverage. To do this, mount every other nozzle "backwards" on the boom.

This means that some nozzles face one way, and others face the opposite way. With this setup, you create four distinct spray patterns on the target, providing even more thorough coverage.

Applications of Greenleaf TADF Spray Tips

Greenleaf TADF spray tips are useful for a variety of agricultural tasks. Here are some common uses for these types of spray tips:

Crop Protection and Disease Management

Greenleaf TADF nozzles can help protect crops from pests and diseases by providing thorough coverage of the plants with pesticides and fungicides. This helps ensure that every part of the plant is protected.

Nutrient and Growth Regulator Applications

Greenleaf TADF tips can also be used to apply nutrients and growth regulators to crops. These applications help promote healthy growth and development, leading to higher yields.

Insecticide and Herbicide Applications

Greenleaf TADF nozzles can be used to apply insecticides and herbicides. This can help control pests and weeds that can damage crops.

The versatile design of the TADF spray tips allows for precise application. Which reduces the chance of harming non-target plants or beneficial insects.

Choosing the Right Greenleaf TADF Spray Tip

Selecting the right spray tip options for your needs is essential for the best results. Here are some tips for choosing the right Greenleaf TADF spray tip:
